Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan (GEST), I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all of you participating in the Taiwan Digestive Disease Week (TDDW) 2020, which will be held at the conventional center of National Taiwan University Hospital from September 26 to September 27. I am more than happy to invite all of the colleagues, including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, endoscopists, surgeons, pediatricians and oncologists from Taiwan as well as delegates from all over the world to participate in this joint meeting by GEST and its associated societies that involve the care of patients with digestive diseases.

The main theme of this year’s meeting is “Advances in Digestive Medicine in Taiwan”. As always it has been, the scope encompasses the hepatobiliary system and gastrointestinal tract, from basic research, translational medicine and clinical practice. This professional platform will provide the optimal venue for sharing and learning cutting-edge knowledge and skills from domestic and international experts. I am sure the participants will have fruitful and rewarding exchange.

The GEST was established in year 1970. So this year’s meeting is the 50th anniversary. We have reviewed and edited a book containing the important digestive researches over the past 50 years in Taiwan for your reference. During such grand assembly, your active participation will be highly appreciated. All of us look forward to welcoming you in Taipei in September 2020.

On behalf of the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan, it is my great honor and pleasure to announce that the Taiwan Digestive Disease Week (TDDW) 2020 will be held at the interventional conventional center of National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan from September 25 to September 27, 2020. As the chairman of TDDW 2020, I am more than happy to invite all of the colleagues, including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, endoscopists, surgeons, pediatricians and oncologists from Taiwan as well as delegates from all over the world to participate in this joint meeting.

The Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan was founded in 1970, and it will be its 50th anniversary in the year of 2020. Therefore, the main theme of TDDW 2020 is “Fifty years of glory: Advances in digestive medicine in Taiwan”. During the past years, Taiwan had made great contributions to digestive medicines, not only in Taiwan, but also internationally. The scope encompasses the digestive sciences from basic research, translational medicine, and clinical practice. I strongly believe that this wonderful conference will offer an invaluable opportunity for sharing the most updated knowledge in every field of digestive diseases.

In addition to the scientific program, the organizing committee has arranged social activities to enrich our network. We hope that you will enjoy the different aspects of Taiwan including a diversity of traditional folk customs and cultures, and a beautiful landscape in the mountain area. In addition, Taiwan is also a gourmet’s paradise including the finest of Chinese cuisine, the delicious Taiwanese local dishes, as well as exquisite international dining in a variety of restaurants.
